    NEXT MEETING:   Monday, August 11th at the London Pickle Works – MacKenzie Klubnik of the Cultural Arts Council will speak.

     

    BOARD MEETING NOTES

     

    In an effort to fund our administrative account, the Board voted to allow no more than 10% of our proceeds from any fundraiser to be used for this purpose.  This will commence with the fall BBQ. 

     

    DIVISION COUNCIL MEETING:   This month’s meeting will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Busch Funeral Home, 7501 Ridge Road, and beginning at 8:15 pm.

     

    OHIO DISTRICT CONVENTION:  This year’s convention will be held from August 15-17, 2008 at Crowne Plaza Columbus North, 6500 Doubletree Avenue, Columbus, Ohio.

          

    THANKS:   We received a thank you note from Kevin

    Cieplowski, Erie Division Lt. Governor for our donation to assist him in attending the International Convention.  D. Nicastro sent a thank you for the fruit basket that    we sent.  Hope you are feeling better Debbie.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

     

    A BIG THANK YOU to all Kiwanians who gave their all over the weekend at our Home Days booth.  A special thank you to Edie and Diane for their time and energy in planning this event and working numerous hours. We were blessed to have so many Kiwanians helping, plenty of people to enjoy our good food and great weather! 

     

    STEAK ROAST:   This year’s event will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Heidelberg Distributing on 9101 East Pleasant Valley Road.  Dinner will be served at 6:30 pm.  This year the event will cost $15.00 per person.  Please bring your own cutlery.  See E. Schilla to sign up.

     

    INTERCLUB:  This month’s interclub will be at Nordonia on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 7 pm.  Chairman Benes asked everyone that if you have never attended an interclub, please be sure that you do in the future. 

     

    MEMBERSHIP:  The best way to bring in new members is to simply ASK.

      

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    COMMUNITY SERVICE:  Klepacz reported that a popcorn machine was purchased for Cornerstone of Hope.  This equipment will be used for the children who use the facility.

     

    Reminder:  The West Side Catholic Center is in need of the following items:  Food items-coffee, sugar cereal; Toiletries-soap, shampoo, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste and brushes; Clothing-Men’s pants, shoes, socks, underwear; Household Goods-pots and pans, can openers, toasters, radios, small TV’s, tableware; Baby Items-diapers, wipes, cribs, bedding; Misc Items-used eyeglasses, backpacks, sleeping bags, garbage bags, umbrellas.  Oh, by the way, George says, “BRING YOUR STUFF!”

     

    YCPO:  Kukawka reported that donuts were donated.  Also, University Settlement will be holding their annual Back-to-School Fair on Friday, April 15, 2008 from       1-4 pm. 

     

    SPECIAL REQUEST:   Several members have asked that their e-mail addresses not be distributed to those outside of the club.  As a courtesy, please contact that member for their permission.

    POP TAB COLLECTION PROGRAM:  In an effort to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, we collect the tabs from aluminum cans.  Don’t forget to bring them in.

BUILDERS CLUB:  The main fundraiser for the Builders Club is the collection of box tops.  These coupons are located on General Mills products.  A valid coupon contains the 10¢ and an expiration date.  There are many other ways to contribute to this fundraiser, log onto boxtops4education.com and find out more.  Below is a photo of what they look like:
